Answer
Why does Meta reject my WhatsApp templates?
Meta usually rejects templates for the wrong category, badly formatted variables, shortened links or content that violates its policies. The exact reason appears in your Meta Business account, not in the platform you use to send.
Updated: September 27, 2026
The most common causes
- Wrong category: a promotion submitted as utility.
- Variables with incorrect formatting or no surrounding context.
- Shortened links.
- Text that is too promotional or violates WhatsApp policies.
Where to see the reason
In your Meta Business account, inside WhatsApp Manager, check your rejected templates and their reason. Review can take up to 24 hours.
How to fix it
Create a new template with simpler text, in the correct category, with examples for each variable and no shortened links.
