How to verify your business in Meta Business Suite for WhatsApp: a 2026 guide

Why verify my business with Meta if I use WhatsApp?
A new business portfolio can only message 250 unique people per 24 hours outside the customer service window. Verifying your business is one of the three paths Meta offers to raise that limit to 2,000. Some advertising, developer and billing features also require it.
Which documents does Meta accept for business verification?
Articles or certificate of incorporation, a business registration or license, a government-issued business tax document (not self-filed), a business bank statement, or a utility bill, which only proves address and phone. Documents must be current and in a supported language such as English.
How long does Meta business verification take?
Meta says a decision can take up to 14 business days and notifies you when the review is complete. If you edit your business details afterwards you have to verify again, so double-check them before you submit.

Step by step in Meta Business Suite
- Make sure you have full control of the business portfolio (formerly Business Manager). It's the highest permission level; without it you won't see Security Center.
- Open Security Center in Meta Business Suite on a desktop browser and click Start verification. If it says Ineligible for verification, you don't need to do it there.
- Enter your business details: legal name, address, phone number and website, exactly as they appear on your documents. Your website must load and use https.
- Confirm your details. If Meta can't find your business, choose My business isn't listed and upload an official document.
- Choose how to confirm your connection: email, phone call, text, WhatsApp message or domain verification with a meta tag or DNS record.
- Submit and wait. A decision can take up to 14 business days.
Documents Meta accepts
- Certificate or articles of incorporation.
- Business registration or license document.
- Government-issued business tax document, such as a tax certificate; self-filed tax documents are not accepted.
- Business bank statement.
- Utility bill, only for address and phone number; it must show the legal business name.
Documents must be current, issued by the relevant authority and in a supported language (including English, Spanish and Portuguese). Cover personal data Meta doesn't need.
What changes on WhatsApp when you verify
WhatsApp limits are set per business portfolio: all your numbers share one limit on how many people you can message outside the 24-hour window. You start at 250. To reach 2,000, Meta accepts any of these paths: verify your business, have your solution partner verify it, or send 2,000 delivered messages outside the window within 30 days using high-quality templates. After that Meta raises your limit level by level (10,000, 100,000 and unlimited) as long as quality stays high and you use at least half your limit.
Business verification is not Meta Verified
Business verification confirms your company exists and does not give you a verified badge. Meta Verified for businesses is a separate subscription. If you want the badge, those are two different processes.

- The name or address you entered doesn't exactly match your documents.
- Your website doesn't load or doesn't use https.
- You uploaded an expired, self-filled or unsupported-language document.
- You edited your business details after submitting.
